About the Artists
Dennis Williams
My
name is Dennis Williams. I was born where the Colorado River meets the
Gulf of Mexico in Matagorda County-Bay City, Texas. I have been in Austin
on and off for about 5 years. I heard about Art From the Streets while
I was in the Austin Resource Center for the Homeless. Someone said, “You
want to come paint?” so I did. I have been a part of the program
for 4 years.
The things I like the best about being involved in Art From the Streets
are painting and the money. It makes a nice Christmas.
I enjoy working with acrylics. Someone told me, “Be willing to
make mistakes and decide which ones you want to keep.” That is
the way I work, trial and error. I create landscapes and I also experiment
with abstract landscapes.
I want to paint pictures that show a nice place to be. Sure they are
sometimes lonely and desolate, but still represent a nice place to be.
