About Art From the Streets

Directors

The principal volunteers co-directing Art From the Streets are:

Heloise Gold is a dancer/performer and Tai Chi instructor who was one of the original founders of Art From the Streets. She conducts one of the weekly classes, recruits volunteers to assist with the annual show, and plays a key part in the production of the annual show.

Gene Golembiewski acts as the treasurer and business manager for Art From the Streets. This includes a cultural services contract with the City of Austin. He also organizes and manages the check-out process for the annual show.

Bill Jeffers is a poet, musician, sculptor, and Texas Workforce Commission employee who has been involved with Art From the Streets since before the first show. He plays a key part in development of the annual show’s PR campaign.

Christi Pate is a visual artist, who has been with the project since the first show. She conducts one of the weekly art classes. Christi is the show's Artistic Director, coordinating all aspects of the show's production, including the selection and preparation of the art for sale, and designing the display of the artwork for the show itself.

Joyce Pohlman is a planner with a background in housing and human services and a passion for homeless issues. She is Art From the Streets’ principal grant writer and fundraiser, and secures many of the project’s in-kind donations. She also manages the project mailing list.

Key Volunteers

In addition, the following key volunteers continue to make the project possible:

Robyn Turner and Lynn Zwern, together and separately, have facilitated one of the weekly art classes for the past several years.

Kelly Truesdell oversees final preparation of the 2,000+ art works for the annual show, making sure they are organized, labeled, and ready to hang.
